Gundogan: No decision yet | Dortmund links ‘no surprise’

“There’s no decision yet,” said Germany’s Ilkay Gundogan on Monday as he addressed speculation over a possible move away from Manchester City. The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, but the Champions League winners have offered him the chance to extend his seven-year stay at the club.

“Of course I have a very strong connection to BVB (Borussia Dortmund), and the fact that rumours started to surface didn’t really come as a surprise to me,” he said of reports linking him with a return to the Bundesliga.

Gundogan added: “Nevertheless, in terms of the likelihood, I’ll be honest, it wasn’t too high for me because it wasn’t a big issue for me now, to return to the Bundesliga again.

“There are still talks going on in the background. I mean, that’s normal of course, but there’s nothing concrete or one hundred percent firm yet.”
