EPL Table & Match Review As Chelsea Drew 0-0 Against Fulham

Published

on

Chelsea were looking to get back to winning ways in today’s league game against Fulham. Potter chose to start new signing Fernandez, who only joined Chelsea on Tuesday, and Ziyech, who had a move to Paris Saint-Germain fall through in the final hours of deadline day. This decision of his came as a surprise to most fans.

The blues got off to a fine start, taking the lead in possession within the first 10 minutes. The visitors, however, had the first close chance to score after Pereira’s powerful shot fly from about 30 yards out was saved by Kepa.

The blues had their best chance to take the lead just before halftime when Ziyech found Havertz with a fantastic pass, but the striker’s shot hit the crossbar.

The Blues came back into the game in the second half, playing possessive football and attempting to break down Fulham’s defenses. Enzo Fernandez had a good chance to score his debut goal in the 72nd minute, but his shot went wide.

8 minutes later, the blues had another chance to break the deadlock after Leno misjudged an incoming ball from Gallagher, and as the keeper rushed out to claim it, he was beaten by Fofana, but the defender’s shot on goal lacked power, and Ream somehow managed to clear the ball out before it went into the net. After a goalless 90 minutes, five minutes of extra time were added, but no team was able to break the deadlock within the extra time. The game ended 0-0, with both teams sharing the points.

Chelsea on Friday registered their first win of the new English Premier League season following their convincing 3-0 win over the newly promoted Luton at Stamford Bridge Stadium in London.

The Mauricio Pochettino-led team entered the Premier League game off the back of their disappointing 3-1 loss to West Ham United in their previous outing, and they were looking for a win on Friday night to bounce back.

Just as expected, the West Londoners started the game on a promising as they registered the first goal of the game in the 17th minute when Raheem Sterling’s left-footed effort defeated the Luton goalkeeper to give the Blues their well-deserved lead.

The hosts grew stronger in the second half of the game as they doubled their lead in the 68th minute, thanks to Raheem Sterling who scored his second of the game. A few minutes later, Nicolas Jackson sealed the victory for his team with a left-footed strike as they registered their first win of the season in style.

Why Chelsea Should Delay The Return Of N’Golo Kante Till The End Of The International Break

According to Chelsea Head Coach Graham Potter, French Midfielder N’Golo Kante might return to Chelsea squad next weekend against Everton in a Premier League game ahead of international break.

N’Golo Kante hasn’t make any appearance for Chelsea in over 6 months as his last game for Chelsea was against Tottenham Hotspur in August last year. Chelsea replaced Thomas Tuchel with Graham Potter but, Graham Potter is yet to have the chance to field N’Golo Kante because the Midfield General has been unavailable since Potter was appointed.

Graham Potter has claimed in the past that N’Golo Kante won’t be rushed back into action so that he can heal properly and return to full fitness.

On Friday afternoon, during his Pre-match Press conference ahead of the Premier league encounter against Leicester City that took place on Saturday afternoon at King Power Stadium, Graham Potter hinted that N’Golo Kante could return for Chelsea before the International.

The international break will commence next weekend but not before Chelsea hosts Everton in a Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge. This game could be N’Golo Kante’s first ever appearance under Graham Potter as the England International has already hinted.

Just like many Chelsea Fans have been hitching for the return of N’Golo Kante, Graham Potter might also be enthusiastic towards the return of N’Golo Kante but, in my opinion, I don’t think Chelsea should rush him.

The return of N’Golo Kante to Chelsea squad should be delay because of the upcoming international break. This is because if N’Golo Kante make any appearance for Chelsea before the International break, the Head Coach of the France National team, who’s a big fan of N’Golo Kante, Didier Deschamps might invite the N’Golo Kante for France’s games during the international break.

N’Golo Kante was a big miss for the France National team during the world Cup as the French Midfielder didn’t join the Former reigning Champion for their Campaign in Qatar. With his imminent return, Didier Deschamps won’t want to pass the opportunity to field N’Golo Kante again after about 7 months of absence.

Chelsea started the match against Southampton with most of their best players but, it didn’t matter as James Ward Prowse scored a wonderful Free Kick in the 45+1st minute to make the first half score 0 – 1.

All efforts by Chelsea to equalize proved abortive as Southampton held their nerves to win the match with just a lone goal.

In the other match, Arsenal started the match against Aston Villa with the same squad that played Manchester City except the introduction of Leandro Trossard and Ben White for Gabriel Martinelli and Tomiyasu respectively.

Aston Villa scored the first goal in the 5th minute before Bukayo Saka equalized in the 16th minute.

Coutinho gave Aston Villa the lead in the 31st minute and that was the final score of the first half, 2 – 1.

After the break, Zinchenko equalized for Arsenal in the 61st minute and they never looked back.

In the 90+3rd minute, Emiliano Martinez scored an own goal to make the score 2 – 3 while Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 90+8th to make the final score 2 – 4 in favour of Arsenal.

In the match between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, Bernardo Silva had given City the lead in the first half but a second half equalizer from the Forest boys ensured that the match ended in a 1 – 1 draw.
