Chelsea have opened talks with Brighton for a £85m Newcastle target

Todd Boehly and his camp succeeded in enriching their squad depth this summer with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Gabriel Slonina, Marc Cucurella, and Chukwuemeka moving to Chelsea.

Graham Potter and his men will shift their attention to the Carabao Cup where they will be at loggerheads with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

According to reports coming from THE MIRROR, Chelsea wants Moises Caicedo and is now understood to have held talks to defeat Newcastle United to the Brighton and Hove Albion player.

The report has it that Caicedo who is 21-year-old joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle back in February 2021 and has cemented a first-team role in 2022 after a loan spell in Belgium with Beerschot.

THE MIRROR suggests that Potter wants to reunite with Caicedo and Chelsea is speaking to Brighton about what could be a very expensive deal as Brighton wants a massive £85million for the player and the Blues will now face an enormous bill.

The report adds that Chelsea wants Caicedo as a successor to N’Golo Kante in midfield and may well be willing to spend on a player Potter is very familiar with. It remains to be seen if these reports are true.
