Enzo Fernandez given permission to undergo medical as Chelsea talks continue

Published

on

It’s deadline day and Chelsea are preparing for a busy end to the January transfer window. Todd Boehly and other members of the Blues’ board are pushing to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica with less than 24 hours to go.

The Argentina World Cup winner has already agreed personal terms with the west London outfit and is ready to fly to London should the Portuguese outfit accept Chelsea’s mega-money offer and give the player the green light. Benfica president Rui Costa changed his plans on Monday night to hold an internal meeting and make a final decision on Fernandez’s future.

Premier League leaders Arsenal have made a shock approach to sign Jorginho as they look to strengthen their midfield. The 31-year-old has just six months left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge and now the Blues could look to cash in on the Italian midfielder rather than risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer.

Conor Gallagher was the subject of a £45million bid from Everton yesterday, but the 22-year-old is understood not to be keen on a move to Goodison Park after the Blues have already rejected loan approaches for him from Newcastle and Crystal Palace earlier this month. Hakim Ziyech could leave the club on loan with Paris Saint-Germain in advanced talks to take the Moroccan winger until the end of the season.
