What Romelu Lukaku has allegedly done to force Chelsea’s exit amid a ‘salary-sharing claim

Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is said to have been linked with former Inter Milan teammates, the club’s general manager, and staff over a possible return to the San Siro after a disappointing first year in England with the team by Thomas Tuchel.
Lukaku’s frustration with his stay in west London has been known since early 2022 when he made inflammatory comments to Sky Italia that tainted all production and preparation for Liverpool’s Premier League clash.
The mercurial talent has since rediscovered some late-season form, but it seems this isn’t enough to keep the 29-year-old happy in his condition, sometime after completing a club-record £97.5m. back to the Premier League.
While traveling with Belgium and following the most recent Nations League loss to the Netherlands, Italian guru Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that he has strengthened his stadium and his ideas.
“Lukaku would like to come back. He would like to come back from the past. From March what would he like to come back,” Di Marzio confirmed to Wettfreunde.
“He doesn’t depend on you or Inter. He relies solely on Chelsea and I would be very surprised if he was loaned out free of charge after a fight to have him for only €150m in the last 12 months, and I think it should be a surprise for a club like Chelsea. I’ll let you go on loans without any repayment.”
According to Di Marzio, Lukaku has taken matters into his own hands to secure a return to the San Siro.
“Since last Christmas, Lukaku has been sending public and private messages to Inter, calling managers and coaches, former teammates and coaches, ready to leave a third of his salary in London, ready to take action. Anything you can do to do Impossible things. It is possible”, he said in this Monday’s edition of Corriere Della Sera in Milan, by SempreInter.com.
Also, amid two-year loan rumors, it appears both sides are open to a deal to strike a deal this summer.
This even though Chelsea is still paying part of the £97.5m he paid last summer.
Meanwhile, Inter is reported to have demanded that Todd Boehly and his new board agree on a distribution plan that will benefit both parties: Chelsea will field an angry player, while Inter will claim their 2020/21 MVP title.
Football.london reports that any further recruitment this summer will be unexpected due to Lukaku and other attacks taking place to allow for club space and cash flow.
