Chelsea have officially announced the completion of a deal for Kendry Paez from Independiente del Valle. The 16-year-old prodigy will officially join the Blues once he turns 18.
Paez recently made waves with his impressive performances in the Under-20 World Cup for Ecuador. In just four appearances, he managed to contribute with a goal and three assists, leaving a lasting impression on the international stage.
Renowned for his exceptional skills, Paez was hailed as the standout talent of the 2022 Next Generation Trophy, a prestigious youth tournament held in Austria. Additionally, he played a crucial role for Ecuador in the Under-17 Copa America, where he captained his team and showcased his abilities with two goals and six assists.
According to El Universo, the talented midfielder has an impressive record, having scored an impressive 39 goals in 106 games between 2018 and 2022. Paez has consistently d showed his abilities throughout the various youth teams of Independiente del Valle. In 2023, he has already made six appearances for the club, including in the Copa de Libertadores.
Chelsea’s pursuit of young talents continues, as they have made a habit of securing promising stars early on. In the previous summer, the Blues successfully signed Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Cesare Casadei. They further strengthened their ranks with the acquisition of Andrey Santos in January. Unfortunately, Santos has faced work permit issues, leading to his loan return to Vasco da Gama.
