Here Is One Player Chelsea Could Smash Their Transfer Record To Sign This Summer

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has made it clear that the team would be undergoing a rebuilding process this summer, which would see a number of players departing the club, and also big players being signed to join the club in the transfer window.

There have also been positive signs from the Chelsea new owners, that they are really ambitious to make the team challenge at the top levels, by providing the necessary funds needed by the Chelsea manager to build the team this summer, ahead of the next season.

Having smashed their transfer record in the 2021 summer transfer window to bring Romelu Lukaku back to the club from Inter Milan, they could be ready to supercede that transfer fee record again in this upcoming summer transfer window, as Todd Boehly is reported to be ready to splash the cash this summer on A–list players, so as to announce the beginning of a new era, just like Roman Abramovichdid when he first bought Chelsea in 2003.

In this article, we will be writing on the player that Chelsea could break their transfer record of £97.5 million to sign in this summer transfer window.

Declan Rice

Chelsea have been after the signature of West Ham defensive midfieder since the last two seasons, as they see him as a player with great potentials of becoming one of the best in his position.

West Ham has been very firm on their stance on the possible transfer of Declan Rice, as they don’t want to sell the player, but they have been clear enough to clubs who want to buy him, that they won’t get him on a cheap, even if the player decides to leave the club.

Declan Rice has also attracted the interest of other top premier league clubs like Manchester United, which means Chelsea would have to battle it out with the Red devils for his signature this summer.

Reports claims that Declan Rice rejected a new seven years contract extension that was offered to him by West Ham United this season, and might be planning to leave the club for a bigger club like Chelsea or Manchester United this summer, but only a transfer fee in excess of £100 million would be able to force West Ham into selling the midfieder to any club this summer.

Chelsea new owners could use the signing of Declan Rice as their statement of intent to the club and the fans, which could smash their current transfer record of the £97.5 million they paid for Romelu Lukaku last summer.
