EVE 0 – CHE 1: One Mistake Tuchel Made That Affected Chelsea’s Attack.

The English Premier League, is back again as there have been some dramatic displays from the matches played. One of such surprises was the shocking draw between Liverpool and the newly prompted club, Fulham. Also, Chelsea were lucky to have the three to themselves.

It’s obvious that the Blues, have been struggling to have a perfect number 9, ever since the legendary striker, Didier Drogba, left the club. It’s been alleged that the number 9, seems to be under a spell as none of the prolific strikers have lived up to expectation.

The tactical German manager, Thomas Tuchel, took over the club and this particular challenge remains unchanged as both the Belgian talisman, Romelu Lukaku and the German forward Timo Werner, have failed to deliver. This has left Tuchel with no option than to play Kai Harvetz, as a false nine and yet the problem has not been solved.

Here is Tuchel’s one mistake Tuchel needs to correct:

Tuchel is known for his tactical approaches during games, but he is yet to correct a particular mistake which might be affecting his attacking force. With the structure of Chelsea FC, it’s almost impossible to expect a positive result without a natural number 9.

Furthermore, Tuchel’s game plan is more defensive and that’s why the defenders get more busy than the attackers, thereby limiting their attacking threat on their opponents. Armando Broja, had a successful time in Southampton during his loan period last season and Tuchel needs to believe in him because he’s flexible, energetic, focused and sharp in the front line. This could be just what Chelsea has been looking for.

Also, Tuchel should have another working game plan apart from his normal 3-4-3 formation. This would make his team flexible and unpredictable. It would also help the attackers to link up perfectly and create more scoring opportunities.
