EPL: How Chelsea’s Attacking Stats Under Tuchel Has Proven That He’s Not A Defensive Minded Coach

Following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner this summer, some Chelsea fans have criticized Thomas Tuchel’s system for not favouring strikers having saw both players score on their debut for Inter Milan and RB Leipzig respectively.

However, in reality, Werner and Lukaku were guilty of missing sitters in crucial games. The former scored 10 league goals in 56 games since 2020 while the latter scored 8 goals in 26 games. Having failed to live up to expectations, both players decided to seek for more promising situations at their former clubs.

Chelsea appointed Thomas Tuchel in January after sacking Frank Lampard, following a run of one win in five games in the Premier League and the former PSG Boss guide the Blues to a fourth place finish in the league.

In his first full season in charge, Chelsea finished 3rd with 74 points behind Liverpool and Manchester City

The German gaffer was labeled a defensive minded coach, but his attacking stats since his first Premier League game as Chelsea manager in 2021 says otherwise

The Blues are currently ranked 1st based on shots on targets and chances created under Tuchel, but sits 13th position based on shots conversation rate.
