Chelsea’s Potential Defense Setup For Next Season Including 3 Centre-backs and 2 Wing-backs

There are several reports that Chelsea are close to signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla. For many Football enthusiasts that has been following Chelsea’s dealings in this summer transfer window, one would easily admit that Jules Kounde’s transfer to Chelsea has been dragged longer than expected.

At a point, it was even certain that the Frenchman would be the first Defender that Chelsea will Sign this summer as the West London hoped to replace Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger who has left as free agents but the Blues couldn’t reach any agreement with Sevilla.

At a point, they had even stopped chasing Jules Kounde, who’s also wanted by Barcelona, and went after other targets like Matthijs De Ligt and Nathan Ake but the Blues are now keen on closing the deal with Sevilla to sign Jules Kounde, who has been tipped as a perfect fit for the position of the Right Central-back in the Thomas Tuchel’s Squad.

The potential arrival of Jules Kounde to West London will add more solidity to Chelsea defense setup that already had two Veteran Defenders in Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly.

If Chelsea eventually gets Jules Kounde, the Blues’ fiercest Defense option for next season would be Kalidou Koulibaly in the Left Centre-back, Thiago Silva in the Central Centre-back and Jules Kounde in the Right Central-back.

Chelsea are looking to sign a Right wing-back if Cesar Azpilicueta eventually leaves but there’s no Player that can rival Reece James for the right wing-back position in the Thomas Tuchel’s Squad unless the England International is unavailable.

With Ben Chilwell now back in the squad after a making a full recovery from his season-long injury, Chelsea defense set-up is good to go for the new season.

Chelsea could keep Ethan Ampadu, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr in the squad to serve as backups.
