Chelsea are eyeing the top 8 European defenders to overcome defensive issues.

Premier League giants Chelsea are reportedly making defense their main focus in the 2022 summer transfer window.

This decision makes a lot of sense. The reason is that Chelsea is widely said to have been left behind by a series of pillars of their mainstay back this summer.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will leave Chelsea on free transfers. Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso reportedly also intend to leave Stamford Bridge.

As reported by the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have reportedly included eight names of defenders in their target list for this summer transfer window.

The top priority, of course, is Sevilla defender Jules Kunde. Another name that is also the main target is RB Leipzig’s young player, Josko Gvardiol.

Furthermore, the names of other defenders targeted by Chelsea are Atletico Madrid’s gatekeeper, Jose Gimenez, and Villarreal’s mainstay defender, Pau Torres.

The other four names have so far not been revealed. However, rumors suggest that two of them are Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana.

The back line is not the only thing Chelsea will strengthen this summer. The Blues reportedly also want to hijack Raheem Sterling from rivals Manchester City.

Sterling has been one of Manchester City’s key players in the last four years. Since being handled by Josep Guardiola, the winger has become one of the most deadly wingers in England.

This situation has begun to change since last season. In the City attack, Sterling has been sitting on the bench more often than starting. Sterling may also consider accepting another club’s proposal.
