2 Things That Could Happen To Chelsea In Group E Games Of The Champions League This Season.

The UEFA Champions League return to action in the first week of September, as 16 matches are schedule to be played in in matchday one of the competition across the continent of Europe.

Chelsea have been drawn against AC Milan, RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League group E.

Most of the Chelsea supporters consider it a good draw and believe the Blues have a very good chance to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, if they could sign a prolific goalscorer to lead the line this new season.

The reigning European Champions Real Madrid will start their European defence against Celtic away from home, while last season runners up Liverpool will start their European campaign away from home against Italian Serie A side Napoli.

The reigning English Champions Manchester City will start their European campaign against Spanish Laliga side Sevilla.

Chelsea have an excellent record in the UEFA Champions League under Thomas Tuchel. The German tactician was appointed Chelsea manager on the 26th January 2021, after the dismissal of club legend Frank Lampard.

Tuchel led Chelsea to win their second UEFA Champions League title in 2021, as they beat the reigning English Champions Manchester City 1-0 at Estadio Do Dragao in Portugal.

Chelsea won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup title under the managerial reign of Thomas Tuchel last season.

The Blues will start their European campaign away from home, as they face the Croatian side, and what could happen to Chelsea as will be facing Italian Serie A Champions AC Milan and Austrian side RB Salzburg in their group stage matches.

1. Thomas Tuchel set the Champions League record of most coaching wins in 50 games after Chelsea defeated French Ligue 1 side Lille in the round 16 clashes of the UEFA Champions League last season.

Chelsea beat Real Madrid 3-2 at Santiago Bernabeu last season and the Whites progress to the semi finals of the competition on 5-4 aggregate.

Under the German Chelsea have only lost 3 matches out of 17 matches they have played between 2020/21 and 2021/22 UEFA Champions League season.

Chelsea haven’t lost an opening match in the European competition, except Chelsea lost to Valencia in 2020/21 season under Frank Lampard

2. Chelsea might finish as group leaders in group E ahead of Italian Champions AC Milan.

If the Blues could maintain their 100 percent group stage record under Tuchel, they could finish on top or second in group E and progress to the round of 16 clashes this season.

How Palmer and Reece James Have Complemented Each Other in Chelsea’s Lineup This Season

Reece James just returned to action for Chelsea this season after recovering from an injury that kept him on the sidelines for weeks but the synergy between the Chelsea Skipper and Cole Palmer has emerged as a pivotal factor in Chelsea’s recent impressive performance.

Their relationship on the pitch showcases a dynamic partnership that has been significantly impacting the team’s overall performance.

One key element of this collaboration is the strategic placement of Cole Palmer in the middle, operating behind the striker.

This positioning capitalizes on Palmer’s unique skill set, acknowledging that he may not possess the blistering pace or sheer physicality to excel in isolated one-on-one situations with defenders.

Instead, Palmer’s strength lies in his ability to receive the ball on the half-turn, exhibiting clever passes that ignite the team’s attacking prowess.

Palmer’s fluid style, characterized by his adept use of pockets and floating movements, creates a symbiotic relationship with Reece James.

James, a versatile right-back, benefits from Palmer’s strategic play by having the freedom to occupy the wing.

This tactical understanding not only maximizes Palmer’s strengths but also amplifies James’s impact on the game.

What becomes evident in this partnership is Palmer essentially playing as a number 10, operating in a role that aligns with his capabilities and enhances the team’s attacking dynamics.

By strategically placing Palmer in a central position, Chelsea leverages his playmaking abilities, allowing him to orchestrate the flow of the game and provide crucial link-up play between the midfield and the strikers.

The tactical harmony between Palmer and James is not just about individual brilliance but also about how their styles complement each other seamlessly.

Palmer’s intelligent movements and distribution empower James to venture forward with confidence, creating a fluid and dynamic attacking unit for Chelsea
